Create virtually unlimited variations on your labels and packaging with our simple, affordable variable data tool
Personalisation is one of the hottest marketing trends around. People don’t want to be the same as everybody else.
Rather, they prefer the products they buy to mark them out as individuals.
This is where HP Collage & Mosaic software can help.
It is able to create almost infinite variations on themes, without the need for thousands of hours of design work.
HP Mosaic
Automatic creation of designs based on core patterns
HP Mosaic takes traditional variable data print (VDP) to the next level by using controlled hyper-variability to produce millions of unique, reproducible graphic designs for mailers, labels, packaging, flyers, signs, billboards and more. With HP Mosaic, VDP moves beyond substituting text, static photos and messages. It enables each printed piece to be unique and distinctive from the next.
HP Mosaic combines, scales, transposes and rotates high-resolution base design patterns to create limitless unique variations. It can achieve infinite designs easily with no need for an army of designers. Once the base patterns are developed, the automated software handles all the processing. For best results, the base designs should be complex, with a lot of detail and colour. The more complex and colourful the original file, the better the results.
HP Collage
Create virtually unlimited variations on a centrally designed theme.
HP Collage makes it possible to create one to millions of unique designs in digitally printed shrink sleeve labels. Using one or multiple seed artwork files, the art can be rotated, scaled, or changed in colour to create different designs. Collage is also an automated variable design feature for HP Indigo printing like Mosaic but with some key differences: Algorithms create random combinations of specified design elements to create large numbers of unique designs for unprecedented packaging impact. The variable design creates movement in the appearance of packaging across shelves.
The elements can include images, text, or logos, then combined according to individual rules set by the user. Users control different parameters such as minimum and maximum number of repetitions for each element within channels, rotation and/or size resulting in hundreds to millions of unique designs.
Example 1
The fruit and their seeds are the ‘seed images’ in this example.
Using the software, rules are created for scale, rotation, placement and quantity per label, and they all appear within the set ‘channel area’ ie: the coloured background.
Example 2
On these labels, different ‘channel areas’ are set for certain elements to appear within.
And again, rules are created for scale, rotation, mirror, and quantity.
HP software can help you increase your brand’s value in three core ways:
- Engagement: Messaging and offers can be tailored to specific markets, segments or even an individual using variable printing. This creates meaningful engagement.
- Differentiation: Create packaging that stands out to make a visual impact on your customer and distinguish you from your competitors.
- Presence: Use the space on the shelf to tell your story, capture customers’ attention, and create a memorable retail experience.
The benefits of using this software are clear. It allows you to deliver a better customer experience and influence purchasing behaviour. It can breathe new life into existing brands, or help start-ups make a splash. It can work especially well in conjunction with social media and other digital marketing campaigns by making collectable items even more desirable.
